Browser Archives

The best and easiest way to read the Guide is online.

However, if you like messy, you can download the Guide to your very own computer and read it using one of our many outdated article browsers. All of this for free and a load of wasted time! Just pick the version you (probably don't) need:

In addition, you can find translators for converting PGG articles to the following hypertext formats:

[note: palm pilot versions and other small device are missing from this list]

Just remember, if you're downloading a PGG browser, you are doing archeology. Most of these engines where developed at a time where World Wide Web was not a common household name. You may therefore not be in for a party. It's also quite probable that some of the email addresses listed aren't working anymore.

Article Archives

From the mothership, download the files you need from this list:

  • NEW.NEW
Contains all articles that were added to the archives during the last archive update.
  • ARTICLE.NEW
  • FORMAT.NEW
Tell you a little something about the formatting of articles.
  • CONTENTS.NEW
Lists the titles and subtitles of all entries since the last update.
  • REVIEW.NEW
    Discusses the review process.
  • Depending on the type of article that you prefer, take the files that look like the following ones: REAL*.NEW (mostly factual articles), SREAL*.NE (partly fictional articles), UREAL**.NEW (entirely fictional articles)

For a first time update, you can download a whole bunch of PGG articles in ZIP format from the archives. The format of the filename, YYYYMMDD.ZIP, reflects the date the archive was last updated.
