Last Friday night I started writing The UNIX Guide! (TUG), a UNIX equivalent of Steve Baker's TG! It's now in a state where I could think about releasing it as an alpha test. Would some kind sole volunteer to put it up for FTP if I e-mail it to them (Steve?). Here's the README: ------------ STARTS HERE --------------- The UNIX Guide! A HHGTTKG browser and update program. See `COPYING' for distibution and modifiaction conditions. Requirements: - ANSI C compiler (GCC recommended) - GNU termcap - GNU getopt Tested on (by): Linux, GCC 2 (Dave Gymer, dpg@cs.nott.ac.uk) Please let me know if you get it to work elsewhere... Have fun, and don't forget your towel. ***** You may need to remove the "-s" option from the link command, and mess with the Makefile in other ways if you don't use GNU make. If your system has non-ANSI header files, remove the "-Wall". If you e-mail me about, please remember to include the type of system, OS, and compiler used. I've decided to abandon version 0, and have started re-writing it in C++ (already does what the old one can!). Hopefully I'll be back in October with version 1.foo (tug++ :-). Have a nice Summer! -- `Grave' Dave Gymer, 42 St Mary's Park, Louth, Lincolnshire, LN11 0EF, England dpg@cs.nott.ac.uk (but I'm not always in, and I have no answering machine) These opinions are mine. I doubt that they have ever belonged to anyone else, but if you think you might have lost them, please get in touch. With a shrink.
